Dr. C. Thomas Haytmanek Delivers Key Presentation on Talus Microfracture at 2025 SOMOS Annual Meeting in Vail

Dr. Haytmanek delivered an expert presentation on Talus Microfracture in 2025 at the 67th Annual Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOMOS) Meeting in Vail, Colorado. The meeting brings together leading military and civilian orthopedic specialists to share the latest clinical research, surgical techniques, and innovations in musculoskeletal care.

What is Talus Microfracture?

Talus microfracture is a minimally invasive ankle procedure used to treat damaged cartilage. During the surgery, Dr. Haytmanek makes tiny holes in the talus bone to encourage bleeding. This causes bone marrow stem cells to form a new, cartilage-like tissue. The goal of talus microfracture is to relieve pain and improve joint function, especially for small cartilage defects in the ankle.

Dr. Haytmanek’s presentation focused on the role and outcomes of microfracture techniques for treating talus injuries. Dr. Haytmanek was able to provide attendees with updated insights into indications, procedural strategies, and expected results based on current evidence and practice.
