Dr. Haytmanek Biography
Dr. Haytmanek earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in chemistry and a minor in physics from Wake Forest University in 2004, graduating Cum Laude. He completed his Medical Degree near his hometown of Bethlehem, PA, at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 2008, again graduating Cum Laude. His orthopaedic surgery residency was completed at Duke University in 2013. During his residency at Duke University, Dr. Haytmanek was selected as a Resident Scholar for the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society’s Annual Meeting in 2021. Other awards received during his time at Duke include the Duke Orthopaedic Annual Award for Excellence for his Orthopaedic Research Presentation in June 2013. He was also named a Feagin Leadership Program Scholar in 2012-2013 as part of the Duke Sports Medicine Team. In 2012. Dr. Haytmanek traveled to New Delhi, India as a Parekh Traveling Scholar where he received the Ralph Coonrad Mission Traveling Endowment Award.
In July of 2013 Dr. Haytmanek moved to Vail, Colorado to complete his Foot and Ankle Fellowship with Thomas O. Clanton, MD at The Steadman Clinic. In 2014 he began practicing in Boise, Idaho at The Coughlin Clinic at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center with Michael Coughlin, MD and Christopher Hirose, MD.
The Steadman Clinic welcomed Dr. Haytmanek back into their world-renowned facility, and he is happy to add his expertise in foot, ankle, fracture fixation, ankle arthroscopy, cartilage restoration, and lower extremity sports related injuries to their specialties. Dr. Haytmanek feels honored to join one of the finest teams of orthopaedic surgeons in the field at The Steadman Clinic.
Dr. Haytmanek worked with Dr. Thomas Clanton, the longtime foot and ankle specialist at The Steadman Clinic and the doctor who mentored Haytmanek during his time as a Fellow. Dr. Haytmanek will take over the Sports Foot and Ankle Clinic, following Dr. Clanton’s retirement in 2021. He is accepting new patients in Aspen, Frisco and Vail, Colorado and is associated with Vail Health Hospital.
Dr. Haymanek’s completed research projects have been published in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Foot and Ankle International, American Journal of Sports Medicine, and Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy. His ongoing research projects include hindfoot fusion nails, total ankle arthroplasty, and cartilage repair.
Dr. Haytmanek belongs to multiple academic organizations including the Piedmont Society, The American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and serves on the board of the North Pacific Orthopaedic Society. He also serves as a member of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard medical team.
Dr. Haytmanek lives in Vail with his wife and two daughters. In his free time, he can be found with his family, golfing, skiing, or reading.
